Dr Noëlle O'Connor

Noëlle is a Researcher, Educational Developer and the Senior University Lecturer (N-TUTORR) at the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) (Ireland). Previously, Noëlle was the Senior Lecturer in Tourism and Hospitality Management in TUS and the Acting Head of the Department of Languages, Tourism, and Hospitality at the South East Technological University.

 

Noëlle has lectured for many years in other Irish higher education institutes including Technological University Dublin. I was also an MBA Online Senior University Lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences (Switzerland).

 

Noëlle is currently an Online Dissertation Tutor for the University of Bolton (UK) and am a member of the Censorship of Publications Board, Department of Justice and Equality. In 2022, Noëlle was a shortlisted finalist for the Mid-West Regional Teaching Excellence Awards. 

 

Noëlle's research focuses on travel and tourism management, Education for Sustainable Development and gender equality within higher education. She has presented research findings at many global conferences and in many referred journals

 

Current projects;
1. I recently obtained First Class Honours in the MSc in Educational Leadership and Management at the University of Portsmouth (UK). My dissertation titled Exploring gender barriers for progression in Irish Higher Education Institutions: A female perspective is under review for publication.
2. I am leading a TUS-funded project on embedding Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) within higher education.
3. I am also working with TUS colleagues on funded research projects on (a) Researching sustainable food production in a higher education learning restaurant utilizing vertical aeroponic Tower Gardens and (b) Exploring the use of immersive technologies to enhance the student experience.
4. I am currently delivering TUS’s first ESD related Level 9 15 ECTS online module Certificate in Embedding Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in the Curriculum.
